In our latest guest blog post, local mum and award winning author of the Charlie Moo’s Blog, Joanne takes a look at five gentle rides to enjoy when you visit Paultons Park.
"Unless you have been living in a cave you can't help but have been caught up in the phenomenon which is Peppa Pig. If you are under 5 Peppa Pig World is a must. It really is every small persons dream. Idealistic and inch for inch what you see on TV. The place is also impeccably looked after and I love the grunting hills and snorts. Plenty of photo opportunity with the characters real and statutes just what every fan wants! On our first visit we ensured we had pictures with them all and the beautiful bronze Peppa and George at the fountain. It's become a tradition now and on revisits we get another snap!
However in peak season, especially weekends and school holidays Peppa Pig World can get busy. Queuing with a small person is no fun and quite frankly I DO NOT queue! So here are my top rides in Paulton's Park to keep your under 5's amused as experienced by Olive age 3.
We managed to get on these rides with no queues, straight on at around 4pm. I find Paulton's Park a great place to keep both a 7,6 and 3 year old entertained most of the rides listed are situated near a thrill ride so your older children don't miss out (or moan in your ear it's for babies!)
The Digger Ride – a gentle ride whereby the child goes round a track in a digger and to make them feel super grown up they can ride without an adult! No matter where they sit too there is that all important steering wheel! There is also seating for eager mums and dads to take photos and rest their weary legs!
Seal Falls – situated right next door to the Digger Ride and also requiring no adults a mini water ride! Olive loved going through the tunnel and down the slide in her own little seal.
Rabbit Ride – a lovely little Rabbit shaped car that meanders around the track at a gentle pace. Over 4's can go on without an adult being 3 Olive took Nanny but she wasn't too impressed with sharing!
Flying Frog – a great introduction to roller coasters for little ones. All though it goes up and down and sharply round corners its not too fast and twice round the track so relatively quick.
Tea Cups – no theme park is complete without a ride on the tea cups. Spin the wheel to make it go faster or for the little ones just enjoy the ride. The queue for this was non existence and Olive enjoyed it so much she hoped off and straight back on again!
Viking Boats – We actually went on these right after we'd queued for about 20 minutes (so not a huge amount of time ) for Grandad Pig's Boats and bar the actual visual differences this ride is the same. Being huge fans of “How to train your dragon” we pretended to be Vikings on a quest to find the Isle of Berk.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg so remember it's not all about Peppa Pig there is so much more for Under 5's to enjoy at Paulton's Park. What's your under 5's favourite ride?"
