Claws, Tails, Paws & Scales - Animal Classification (New for 2018)

We're delighted to welcome our friends from Natural Selection Learning to the Park. Explore how animals are grouped in this hands-on workshop, using real natural history specimens. From fossils to feathers, and taxidermy to tarantula skins, pupils will observe and discuss the key features which help scientists to classify animals.

Aliens in the Universe (New for 2018)

Join the University of Southampton's astrophysics department to explore the order of the planets in our solar system. They will also look into where aliens might be able to live in the solar system and the universe. They'll even discuss what these aliens might look like!

The Science of Soap (Back by popular demand!)

What goes into soap? How is it made? What is a Scientist? We're thrilled to welcome back Bournemouth University for a brilliant hands-on workshop which answers these questions and allows children to actually make a bar of soap!

*Teachers, you might want to bring a bag to look after all of your student's soapy creations!

Animal Adaptations (New for 2018)

The animals at Paultons Park have some amazing adaptations and this is your opportunity to explore them and identify how they are perfectly suited to their habitats in this interactive workshop. You could discover how a Humboldt Penguin has adapted to survive in its marine habitat, how a Meerkat endures the heat of a dry dessert or how a Panther Chameleon finds life in the rainforest.

During this session, You’ll even get to have an exciting close encounter with a real animal (animals used in the session may vary. You will meet at least one animal, which might be a mammal, reptile or invertebrate

Rollercoaster Physics

Find out how forces affect our rides in this presentation. We explore gravity, air-resistance and friction in this session as well as exploring the concept of kinetic and potential energy.
