Also known as the Impeyan monal, it is the national bird of Nepal where it is known as ‘’Danphe’’. It’s scientific name commemorates Lady Mary Impey, wife of the British Chief of Justice of Bengal.

Natural Habitat

Found from eastern Afghanistan through the Himalayas in Pakistan right the way to southern Tibet.

Diet

Feeds on seeds, tubers, shoots, berries and insects. They are great diggers.
