The main threats to the Mindanao bleeding-heart dove are deforestation, overhunting for food and capture for the pet trade.

Natural Habitat

They are endemic to the tropical forests of Southern Philippines inhabiting the islands of Basilan, Bohol, Dinagat, Leyte, Mindanao and Samar.

Diet

Their diet consists mainly of seeds, fruits and insects found on the forest floor.
