Scientific Name: Lamprotornis purpureus

Did you know?

They are mostly iridescent purple with a greenish back and distinctive yellow eyes.

They usually lay 2 - 4 pale blue, lightly spotted eggs which are incubated only by the female, though both parents will feed the chick in the nest as well as when they fledge.

Found in the savannas and open woodlands of Tropical Africa from Senegal and North Zaire to Sudan and West Kenya.
