The Victorian Carousel Ride Accessibility Guide

Access to the Ride

Main access route:

Access is via the main entrance. There is level access up to the Carousel.

Queue Assist/Access route for guests in wheelchairs:

The Queue Assist entrance is via the exit gate. Await Operator’s instructions before proceeding through the gate. There are 2 steps to negotiate to board the Carousel, and a further 13 steps to reach the upper level. The ride can accommodate 1 guest in their wheelchair aboard the Carousel, which is accessible via a ramp. Please see the Operator to make arrangements with the ramp.

 

Requirements for All Passengers

Cognitive Requirements:

All passengers must be able to perceive the concepts of risk and danger, and understand that, for their own safety, they must remain seated at all times whilst using the ride. If there is any doubt as to a passenger’s cognitive ability, then for their own safety they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, or must not use this ride. Please note that this judgement must be the responsibility of the individual passenger, parent or carer, as it is impossible for our Operators to assess an individual’s cognitive abilities.

Restraint type:

All horses are fitted with seat belts which must be worn. The round gondolas are fitted with doors. To ensure their own safety all passengers must be able to remain seated at all times.

Passenger Requirements:

Children under 1.2 metres in height or under 6 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

1 adult can accompany up to 2 children on the ride who do not meet the requirement to ride alone.

Children under 12 months old are only permitted to ride when seated on a bench or gondola seat with a responsible adult.

All passengers should be in good general health and free from heart, back, neck or other conditions which may be aggravated by this ride. Passengers must be able to bend their legs at their hips and knees to use most of the seating units. Plaster casts/medical boots may be permitted – please check with the Operator.

Magnetic Fields:

Magnetic fields are present on this ride. Guests fitted with a pacemaker should seek medical advice.

We respectfully request our guests with disabilities, amputations or neurodiversity, or those people caring for them, to consider the additional information below in deciding whether this ride will be suitable for themselves or those under their care.

Other Physical Safety Requirements:

All passengers must possess good upper body control and must be able to sit upright unaided. To ride a horse, passengers must have full body control and be able to hold on with 1 functioning hand and brace with both functioning legs. Horse passengers must have both natural legs to below the knee.

Lower leg prosthetics may be worn providing they are secure.

Loose arm prosthetics should be removed.

If Evacuation is Necessary:

Evacuation Is no cause for concern on this ride as it will come to a stop as normal.
