Did you know?
These birds have been known to follow larger animals to take advantage of any disturbed insects. The female builds a nest inside a tree hollow to protect the chicks from predators. She will block herself inside using droppings and mud leaving a narrow slit at the front allowing the male to feed her and the chicks.
Natural Habitat
Central and Southern Africa and Saudi Arabia. These Hornbills inhabit open woodland and savanna.
Diet
Insects, seeds, small amphibians, small mammals and fruit.
