Humboldt Penguins get their name from the Humboldt current which flows past Peru and Chile. Penguins use their big webbed feet like the rudder of a boat, to steer themselves through the water. All Penguins catch their food underwater. They can move very fast and their spiky tongues help them grip slippery fish in their beaks.

Islands off western South America, and along the coasts of Peru and Chile. Burrow and create nesting sites in guano deposits on islands or along rocky shores.
Diet
Fish, especially anchovies, herring and smelt.
