Weavers get their name from the elaborate nests they construct using their strong beaks and nails. Makes are bright yellow, females are a more olive-yellow colour. Females chose a make based on his nest weaving capabilities. Nests are constructed by tightly weaving long strands of grass on trees or other plants near or over water.
Natural Habitat
They are found in parts of Kenya and Tanzania. They live in a variety of habitats including savannah, forest and wetlands.
Diet
Omnivores: They are primarily seed eaters but will also feed on grasses, grains and insects.
