Scientific Name: Ceratogymna brevis
Did you know?
The female hornbill walls herself into her nest chamber to lay her eggs and is entirely reliant on the male to feed her and her chicks. One male was estimated to have delivered 24,000 individual fruits to his mate over a period of 120 days, that’s around 200 fruits per day.
Silvery-cheeked hornbills are residents of the tall evergreen forests of East Africa from Ethiopia to South Africa.
They feed on fruit, mainly figs but also take large insects and small invertebrates such as frogs.Book Tickets
