How long will it take to hear from the Paultons recruitment team once I have applied?

We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible, this will be via your preferred communication option (telephone or email). Please make sure your contact details on your application are correct.

Can I be considered for more than one position?

Yes! Absolutely, if you are interested in more than one role, you can apply for as many as you like. Please note that if you are successful, you will only be able accept one role. It is important to note that this may lengthen the recruitment and onboarding process as well.

How old do I need to be to work at Paultons?

If applying for a seasonal role, you must be a minimum age of 16 unless otherwise stated. All minimum age restrictions shown are for reasons of health and safety.

Can I work at Paultons if I am still at school?

What happens next if I am invited to attend an interview?

We will contact you advising that you have been progressed to the interview stage (woohoo!), there will be instructions in the communication on how to choose the date and time for your interview. The communication will also detail what type of interview you have been invited to, and it could be one of the following:

  • Group interview at the Park – this will include fun group activities with your fellow candidates and a quick one to one interview.
  • One to one interview at the Park - this will involve answering some questions and discussing why you would like to work with us.
  • Virtual interview online (usually held via zoom) - this will involve answering some questions and discussing why you would like to work with us.
  • Outdoor walk around the Park – some roles, (Grounds/Gardens/Zoo Operations/Maintenance/Engineers) have a slightly different set up for interviews. As the roles are primarily outside in the Park, it is important that we show you this environment during your interview.

What if I need additional support during the recruitment process?

What happens after I have attended an interview?

We will contact you with the outcome of your interview as quickly as possible and within a few days, unless informed otherwise. If you are successful, congratulations! We will then be able to explain the onboarding process and go from there.

What if I don’t have Right to Work in the UK?

When do I give you my Right to Work in the UK?

Please bring your Right to Work in the UK to your interview, we will take a copy of the original document when you arrive. This can be either of the following: Your passport OR Your birth certificate AND official document showing your National Insurance number (such as a P45, P60, etc.)

We are able to offer;

School Work Experience Placements

Available from April to July, you can experience work in one of the following teams;

  • Food & Beverage

Duties vary depending upon the area you are assigned to and may include food preparation, serving guests, operating tills, clearing tables, washing up, cleaning work areas and stock control.

Strict food handling and hygiene regulations apply at all times for which you will receive instruction and training. Hours are Monday – Friday, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 5.00pm.

  • Retail & Admissions

Retail not only covers our selection of shops throughout the park but also all of our ride photography. This is much more than just working in a shop and you could be involved with any of these areas including Guest Information (which deals with various enquiries, lost property and season tickets), The Hub (central point for ride photography) or admissions during your work experience.

In all cases you will experience how to be an integral part of making memories and enhancing their day out through exceptional customer service by helping with a question or assisting with a purchase. You will be working Monday – Friday, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 5.00pm.

  • Park Operations

The Park Operations team are responsible for a variety of areas including guest welcome, rides & attractions, entertainments, cleaning and first aid. Guest experience and interaction is vital along with presentation. 

Due to the health and safety restrictions of this position it will be very much an observation role with one of the team during their working day.  You will be working Monday – Friday, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 5.00pm, however you may be given the option to start earlier on a couple of days (7.30am – 3.00pm) so that you may observe the rigorous safety inspections which take place prior to opening.

 

College/ University Placements

Available February to November. If you are 17 years or older and currently studying at college or university then in addition to the above placements, we may be able to assist with specific areas related to your studies.

  • Zoo Operations

You will work alongside our keepers actively participating in all their daily duties which could be anything from cleaning aviaries/ enclosures, painting or planting and general welfare tasks.  Do not expect to be handling any of the stock, we do this only when absolutely necessary.

The first job of the day is a health check of all the stock and then feed preparation.  During feed preparation, you will be expected to chop fruit and vegetables and the sorting of dried feeds.  You will be handling Category 3 waste material which includes minced meat, dead chicks, mice and fish (all necessary PPE will be provided). It is important that you follow their instructions/ tuition.

You will be working Monday – Friday, starting at 7.30am and finishing at 5.00pm.

What happens after you’ve applied?

We will check if we have availability for your requested team and dates. If yes, you will be invited to attend a brief interview here at the Park. This gives us a chance to meet you and you the chance to ask us more about the role.

If we cannot accommodate your request you will receive a communication with reason(s) why.
