Splash Lagoon Ride Accessibility Guide
Access to the Ride
Main access route:
Access is via the entrance. There are 14 steps up to negotiate in the long queue line and 10 steps down to the platform.
Queue Assist/Access route for guests in wheelchairs:
The Queue Assist entrance is next to the ride’s exit and signposted. Access for guests in wheelchairs is available via the exit gate and is clearly marked – please await the Operator’s instructions before proceeding through the gate. There are no steps to negotiate up to the platform. Guests with mobility issues may find it challenging to transfer into the ride boats due to the long step down.
Requirements for All Passengers
Cognitive Requirements:
All passengers must be able to perceive the concepts of risk and danger, and understand that, for their own safety, they must remain seated and hold on at all times whilst using the ride. If there is any doubt as to a passenger’s cognitive ability, then for their own safety they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, or must not use this ride. Please note that this judgement must be the responsibility of the individual passenger, parent or carer, as it is impossible for our Operators to assess an individual’s cognitive abilities.
Restraint type:
There is no form of passenger restraint on this ride. To ensure their own safety passengers must be able to remain seated, hold on to the handrails and brace with at least 1 arm at all times, whilst bracing with at least 1 leg.
Passenger Requirements:
All passengers must be at least 0.9m tall to ride. Passengers must be 6 years old to ride without a supervising adult. Maximum load of 1 adult and 1 child per boat, or 3 children per boat.
1 adult can accompany 1 child who does not meet the requirement to ride alone, seated behind the child in the same boat.
All passengers should be in good general health and free from heart, back, neck or other conditions which may be aggravated by this ride. This ride is not recommended for people with high blood pressure or who have had recent surgery. Pregnant women are advised not to use this ride due to the nature of the ride and the forces it generates. Guests who experience vertigo or Meniere’s disease are advised not to ride. Passengers must be able to bend their legs at their hips and knees. Plaster casts/medical boots may be permitted in some circumstances – please ask the Operator.
Magnetic Fields:
Magnetic fields are present on this ride. Guests fitted with a pacemaker should seek medical advice.
Additional Information for Guests with Disabilities, Missing Limbs/Amputations or Neurodiversity
We respectfully request our guests with disabilities, amputations or neurodiversity, or those people caring for them, to consider the additional information below in deciding whether this ride will be suitable for themselves or those under their care.
Other Physical Safety Requirements:
All passengers must possess full body control and be able to sit upright and hold their head up unaided.
Passengers must be able to withstand sudden changes of direction and onset of G-forces. All passengers must be able to hold on with at least one functioning hand to brace against the ride forces. A single above-elbow or below-elbow amputation is permitted. Loose arm prosthetics should be removed.
Passengers must be able to brace with one functioning leg. Prosthetic lower limbs may be worn – please check with the Operator.
If Evacuation is Necessary:
In the unlikely event that evacuation is necessary, guests must be able to understand and be able to follow our instructions. If evacuation is required guests may have to walk down from the lift on an open-mesh grating floor. The height of the lift is self-evident. Guests must feel comfortable with having to walk down from the top of the lift. It may also be necessary to evacuate from a boat in the water, where the boat will not be stable. All evacuations require a large step up and step down. Evacuations can be prolonged events to ensure the safety of everyone involved, and we kindly ask for everyone’s patience and understanding during this process.
