African Animal Adventures! - NEW FOR 2018 (KS1 KS2)

Venture into our NEW land 'Little Africa' with your class in 2018 and see our amazing African animals in this interactive workshop based on habitats and adaptation.

Children will explore this new area and have a close encounter with some exciting live creatures from this amazing continent

Animal Encounters! - NEW FOR 2018 (PRE KS1 KS2)

Join the Education Team for a fully interactive animal experience where your class can have a close encounter with a range of amazing creatures. This might include a mammal, reptile and an invertebrate. We will also provide your group with lots of fun facts about the animals they are meeting.

Due to animal welfare reasons, we can not guarantee which animals will be available on the day, but will endevour to provide an exciting range.

Fur, Feathers and Scales - NEW FOR 2018 (KS1)

Comapre live animals in this session based on classifying. Children will discuss how animals have similarities and differences and how these characteristics help us to group them.

Children will also discuss how these characteristics help them to survive in the wild.

Children will have a close encounter with some live animals and decide which animal group they belong to.

Habitats Around the World - NEW FOR 2018 (KS1 KS2)

Discover dry deserts, open oceans and humid rainforests in this hands-on workshop based across the globe. Learn about the different habitats and how animals found in the Park live in these. What adaptations they have to survive in the wild?

During the session, your class will have a close encounter with some of our animals, exploring how these have adapted to survive in their habitat.

The Education Team would love you to come and meet their new animals! From furry mammals to scaly reptiles, your class will have a close encounter in this workshop!

Pupils will learn and discuss what the basic needs for the animals are and how the Paultons staff look after and ensure their wellbeing.

Rainforests - NEW FOR 2018 (KS1 KS2)

Have a close encounter with live invertebrates found in some of the worlds rainforests in this interactive workshop based on this interesting tropical habitat.

Children will learn about the importance of rainforests and discuss ways in which we can protect them.

Animal Conservation - NEW FOR 2018 (KS2)

Why is so much of the world's wildlife under threat? What can we do to protect and conserve wildlife? Find out in our new workshop dedicated to teaching children about conservation.

Children will look at specific examples of animals found in the Park that are under threat in the wild and how zoos help to protect them. You'll also get the opportunity for a close encounter with some animals.

Dino Discovery (KS1, KS2) 

Come face to face with our tame-ish T-rex as your class step inside our dinosaur enclosure for a meet and greet like no other! Our Park Ranger will present lots of interesting dinosaur facts in this ‘WOW’ experience – remember your cameras!

After the Meet and Greet, children can complete our ‘spotter guide’ activity book with their own group leaders around Lost Kingdom.

Cross-Curricular Workshops

Theme Park Creator - NEW FOR 2018 (Upr KS2) 

We need a new land for Paultons Park... and we need your help! Join us for a new cross-curricular topic which includes a day at the Park and a 45 minute workshop, designed to give your students the skills needed to create a new land.

Your visit will include the chance to conduct research (whilst enjoying the rides) before returning to school to design the land. We’ll provide you with the resources needed to create a week long cross-curricular topic where the outcome is a new land for the Park; designed by the children and based on market research conducted during your visit.

Science Day - 9th March 2018 (KS2) 

As part of British Science Week, join us for a whole-day of science based activities and workshops - all inlcuded in the education rate!

Extra talks, science trails and a range of guest workshops can be pre-booked to fill your day of science learning and fun! Last year, children made soap and learnt about dinosaurs with Bournemouth University; visited the Astrodome thanks to University of Southampton; met a range of mini-beasts and explored the physics of rides thanks to Paultons Education Dept.

December Discovery Days (KS2 only) 

Join the Education Team on selected dates in December for a whole day of cross-curricular learning – all for £8.70inc VAT per student. Workshops included in the entry price are Feel the Force; Ride Programming and Meet the Minibeasts as well as time to explore the Park’s rides and attractions.

Physics Workshops

Rollercoaster Physics (KS2)

Take charge of your own K’Nex ride in a session which explores the physics behind a rollercoaster. Conduct an experiment to explore the variables which affect whether a carriage will be able to ‘loop-the-loop’.

Children will get the chance to hold real rollercoaster parts as they explore forces and energy types in this interactive workshop. This session is also great as part of a ride design topic.

Feel the Force (KS1 KS2)

Let our Education Team whisk your children off on a stunning tour of the park. This hugely popular workshop looks closely at forces and how they affect the rides. Children get the chance to experience our rides and discuss the forces acting on their body. There are so many forces behind our rides – some are very helpful to a theme park and some aren’t! By the end, children will be able to identify them and explain where they appear in a theme park, making links between forces and the materials used on our rides.

Sessions start as soon as you arrive and run until lunchtime. Rides and concepts are selected to suit the age of the children.

Location Out in the park. A room is used for introductions and to store belongings during the morning session.

Accessibility This workshop is open to all. Please note that rides are chosen based on the age of the students. Some rides are not suitable for wheelchair users. Please see our main website for details. Choice of rides can be adapted, please discuss any requirements with the Education Team.
Important Please note that this workshop is not available in July to new school visitors. Returning schools can book this workshop as in previous years. Rollercoaster Physics is available as an alternative.

Science Explorer in the Lab (KS1 KS2)

Step into Professor Blast's lab for an exclusive 45 minutes of science exploration. An Education Guide will introduce the lab to your class before its hands on time! Interactive exhibits await in our fully themed laboratory. To get the most out of your lab visit, we suggest adults take an active part as well!

Ride Programming – CONTROL IT (KS2)

Professor Blast is responsible for programming all the rides at Paultons. Work in pairs with a laptop and a mini Skyswinger in order to programme your very own ride!

For any student wishing to gain an understanding of the importance of ICT in 'the real world' this presentation is hugely beneficial. We look at the different uses of ICT around the park and how it has benefited Paultons Park as a business.

Our hugely popular marketing presentation covers the main techniques used by Paultons Park to attract customers. We cover the marketing mix, product lifecycle, promotional techniques, impact of technology and who we market to as well as looking at the history of Paultons and our aims and objectives.
